Discover if you carry the genotype associated with greater appetite and snacks between meals, elevating the risk of excessive energy intake and consequently moderate risk of being overweight.
Carbohydrate response
Discover if your genetic profile would see greater weight loss with a high-complex carbohydrate diet.
Response to saturated fat
Discover if your genetic profile is more likely to see weight gain and an elevated lipid profile when consuming a diet high in saturated fats.
Response to protein
Discover if your genetic profile is more likely to see improved body composition when consuming a diet high in protein.
Meal time and melatonin levels
Discover in your DNA whether you would benefit from earlier dinners or later breakfasts, associated with your glucose tolerance.
Eating habits
Discover if you carry the genotype associated with a reduction in your body’s ability to feel full.
Maintenance of long-term weight loss
Discover if your genetic profile is associated with a difficulty of maintaining long-term weight loss after following a low-calorie diet.
Impaired weight loss without exercise
Discover if you carry the genotype associated with difficulty in losing weight without help from an exercise programme.
Why test
Our DNA weight management test can help identify whether you carry genes that can make weight management more challenging for your body. This test will analyse genes associated with difficulties to metabolise certain foods and appetite factors.
By looking at your DNA, you can understand your genetic risk and tailor your diet to design a weight management approach that is suitable to you.
What our customers say
...I heard about a weight management DNA test from My Health Checked, and the results were fascinating. I learnt that my specific genotype means my body has an impaired function of the ADRB2 gene, which influences the way I process glucose. Thanks to my genotype I can’t keep the weight off simply by following a low-calorie diet – I have to do moderate exercise as well, both cardio and weight training.
It had some interesting suggestions about diet too. My body type isn’t brilliant at processing glucose with a later dinner time or an early breakfast, so I’ve started eating breakfast later at around 9am and dinner earlier at 6pm. It also said that I should add in more cranberries, strawberries and pistachios, and tart cherry juice to aid melatonin production and help with sleep. Getting a good night’s sleep helps with weight management.
It was really helpful to learn that my struggles with keeping the weight off were not because I’m doing something wrong; it’s just the way my body works. I think without that knowledge I would have given up trying to diet, but now I know I just have to keep going.
I'm getting married this year and I wanted to feel great in my wedding dress, so I took the Weight Management DNA Test to find out more about how my body responds to different foods and exercise. I took on board the recommendations and I've lost half a stone in just over two months as well as adopted healthy lifestyle habits for the future. Thanks, MyHealthChecked!
