Non Travel - Rapid Antigen Test

The Flowflex® nasal swab lateral flow self- test is simple to use to detect the presence of COVID-19. The kit contains everything you need to collect your sample and determine your result at home.

This test is suitable for customers who wish to test themselves for COVID-19, but who are not travelling. This test does not include a verification or certification service.

- Adults aged 18 and over: self-test (unless unable to do so)

- Teenagers aged 12 to 17: self-test with adult supervision

- Children 11 and under: An adult must take the sample following the instructions in the information for use leaflet provided with your test

Please read the kit IFU that is included within the test kit box fully before beginning the testing process. There is also a Flowflex® video that can be viewed – here. Included in the kit is also a waste bag so you can safely dispose of your used tests. The nasal swab is only required to be inserted 2.5cms into the nostril, unlike other lateral flow rapid tests on the market.

Once you have completed the sample taking you will receive your test result within 15 minutes. Avoid eating or drinking for at least 30 minutes before doing the test to reduce the risk of spoiling the test.

The test result will be visible 15-30 minutes from sample application. Test results must be read within 30 minutes of applying the sample, or the results will no longer be valid.

The PCR test uses a technology called polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to see if the virus is currently in your body. It works by detecting the genetic material in the virus called RNA.

When the nasal swab sample reaches the lab, a solution known as a ‘reagent’ is added to it. If the virus is in the sample, the reagent starts a ‘chain reaction’ which creates billions of copies of the viral genetic material.

The antigen test is a rapid diagnostic test that aims to identify the presence or absence of specific proteins of the virus based on the surface of a nose or throat swab sample. The antigen test is considered accurate when the instructions are followed correctly.

However, if your antigen test result is positive, you may be asked by your doctor to do a PCR test to confirm results as it is a more sensitive test method to detect the SARS CoV-2 virus.

Our antigen test has a high level of diagnostic accuracy with 97.1% sensitivity and 99.5% specificity at viral loads above 100,000 copies/ml, meeting the UK Border Entry performance standard.
