Travelling to and from England
Spring COVID Travel Rules Explained
The UK Government updated travel regulations to and from England in March 2022. MyHealthChecked created this guide to explain the rules concerning travel in England during coronavirus.
Travel To England
There is no longer a need to fill out a Passenger Locator Form (PLF) prior to travel, to do a fit to fly COVID test before departure or after arriving in England and to quarantine. These rules apply to those who are fully vaccinated and those who are not vaccinated.
If you are arriving in England on transit, these rules also apply.
However, you may be leaving from a country that has regulations about what to do before departing for England. You need to check local travel guidelines.
Travel From England
The best resource to see travel regulations for foreign countries is the UK Government Foreign Travel Advice page. This will detail whether:
- Those entering from the UK are allowed to enter
- If you need to show proof of vaccination or proof of a negative test
- If you need to quarantine once arrived
Tests need to be arranged with a private test provider. The NHS cannot provide tests safe for travel. MyHealthChecked offers reliable PCR fit to fly tests (with a fit to fly certificate) and antigen fit to fly tests (with a fit to fly certificate) with quick turnarounds for travelers departing from the UK.
To show proof of vaccination, you will need the NHS COVID Pass if you live in England or Wales, the EU Digital COVID Certificate, or the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention vaccination card (for US residents). You can also provide a vaccine certificate issued by a national or state-level public health authority in English, French or Spanish.
If you have a medical exemption, it is up to the discretion of the country you are traveling to whether or not residents in England with a medical exemption can follow the same rules for travel as those who are fully vaccinated.
